Up and Over Garage doors are still by far the most common door in the Uk.
Divided into 2 types Canopy and Retractable.

Canopy Garage doors are trackless and swing open within their own frame.
When open they protrude half in and out thus creating a “Canopy”.
These are the most prone to failure.
They use a combination of Springs, Wires and spindles and when these fail your garage door will become extremely heavy, potentially unsafe, unsecure and likely jammed.

Retractable Garage doors, sometimes also called slide away use suspended tracks and lifting arms to fully retract back.
A majority of double sizes up and over doors will be this type.
The most common fault will be a spring issue and a general service may be required.

Both can be automated, although the retractable type is a lot more successful.

Other up and over issues include lock and handles, frames, being locked out and requiring gaining access, and replacing damage mechanisms.
